Jogos da Morte e a Persistência da Memória: As Ficções sobre a Segunda Guerra Mundial de J. G. Ballard

Este artigo é uma discussão das narrativas de guerra (semi-) autobiográficas de JG Ballard, com foco nas diferentes estratégias textuais e processos de significação que Ballard emprega desde seu romance de vanguarda The Atrocity Exhibition (1970) até o frenético relato ficcional de sua experiência na China durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial em “The Dead Time” (1977) e Empire of the Sun (1984), como também em seus textos autobiográficos mais reflexivos The Kindness of Women (1990) e Miracles of Life (2008). A repetição obsessiva de Ballard de muitas imagensatesta uma problemática de representação do evento traumático e, em última análise, elas representam um trabalho complexo e rico de fabulação que escapa às categorizações de ficção e autobiografia.
