Young Brazilians and Europeans: identity, culture and history teaching

This research is inserted in a kind
of studies that search the identity of
pupil who attend to High School and
the historical knowledge form. This
paper is a result from a research
project “Establishing knowledge,
producing practices, searching the
daily school life” developed by
researchers of Federal University of
Paraná, with the participation of
professors and pupils of two High
School of the city of Curitiba, in
theperiod of 1998 to 2000. Five
professors and 21 pupils were
observed and interviewed. Also were
applied questionnaires. Partial results
indicated incongruence among the
interest and pratical necessities of the
young pupils and the objectives and
practices of learning in History. The
comparison European research
according Tutiaux-Guillon/ Mousseau, 1998 and Machado
Pais, 1999 allows conclude that this
incongruence can be able to extend
for other contexts and realities.
