Abstract

This text is a pratical report about a project carried out with a unified kindergarten group in a municipal public school of São Paulo, South Zone. The teacher in an unpretentious and curious form tells how the project to explore the places aroundig of school enabled the appreciation and expansion of the children´s knowledge about geography of the territory. Through notions of location, understanding of urbanity and basic sanitation issues it was possible understanding the importance of the funcion of writing and of numbers in the context of life. It promoted children´s sense of belonging about the territory and the city, clarifying children´s rights wich must be respected. Finally, it encouraged to think of the child as a citizen of the world and the self assessment process about the pedagogical practice.
