Abstract

Adolfo Bioy Casares works on his irst novel the old idea of time's machine that cancels the increase of entropy, that is, his novel exasperates the metaphor of the “arrow of time” because, as noted by Asimov, the constant increase of entropy marks what we consider “the progress of time”. This Morel's fictional machine appeals to the ucronía, the no-time. This is a decrease of entropy, a disorder of the predictable and noticeable on the idea of time. The world of fiction that the author has invented has scientific and philosophical materials. Thanks to them, it outlines its own autonomy.
