Variação dialetal, profundidade cultural e tradução em O senhor dos anéis

Resumo

O emprego cuidadoso de oralidade e variantes dialetais é uma dascaracterísticas mais importantes da prosa e da poesia no clássico da literaturade fantasia O senhor dos anéis, de J.R.R. Tolkien. Ao estruturar seu continentee não-humanas, Tolkien utiliza marcadores como vocabulário próprio, usodivergente de estruturas gramaticais e oralidade poética para criar a ilusão“efeito de real” de sua obra. Neste trabalho, mostro como essa estrutura cuidadosamentetalhada se perde em duas traduções brasileiras de O senhor dosanéis, que optam por apagar ou atenuar as diferenças lingüísticas entre as váriasculturas do universo tolkieniano.
