O Chamado de Cthulhu: o naturalismo fantástico de Howard Philips Lovecraft e a transformação do conto de horror no século XX

Abstract

Howard Philips Lovecraft has produced an important work in the field of fantastic literature. Influenced by the social and cultural changes of his time, he has created an unusual body of this kind of literature, in which fantastic elements blend with literary techniques inherited straight from Naturalism. The present paper aims at correlating the elements making up Lovecraft’s unique style to the events and cultural changes from the end of the 19th century to the first decades of the 20th.
