The rate of consumption of arilloids from champak trees (Michelia Champaca ) by birds was studied in southeastern Brazil. Twelve species of passerine birds were frequently recorded feeding on arilloids. Arilloid consumption rates per visit and per minute of foraging activities in the trees were positively correlated to body weight and bill width of birds. Accurate predictions of consumption rates of arilloids were possible for cach bird species feeding on champak, by using linear and multiple regression equations on body weight and bill width measurements.
