Dialogues in the Disciplinary Borders: the adventures of the anthropological work doi: 10.5007/1984-8951.2010v11n99p186
Abstract
Privileging the reading of Clifford Geertz's works, in this essay I intend to contextualize the dialogues of interpretative anthropology with the disciplines that take part into the field of Social Sciences and Humanities. I analyze the implications of the concept of Culture as a symbolic system, especially as regards the definition of a place and a search the field for anthropology within the Humanities. I propose a reflection on the subject/object relation, fieldwork and ethnography, taking into consideration some questions about the contemporaneous anthropological form of doing and the particularities and challenges of the Brazilian anthropology.
