Abstract

The relantionship between psychoanalysis and phenomenology are analysed in the basis of Freud's and Husserl's works. The implications of the distinction between comprehensive sciences and explicative sciences on the psychoanalytic theory are discussed. Some remarks are made on the epistemology of psychoanalysis. The criticism of the phenomenological philosophers on the empirical foundations of the psychoanalytic methodology is reviewed. The exegesis is considered as the connection point of psychoanalysis and phenomenology, both theories aiming to interpret the human existence, the former focusing on sexuality and the later focusing on ontology. Some of the theoretical divergences between psychoanalysis and phenomenology are solved in Lacan's works.
