Reviewing the concepts of periphery through its cinema

Abstract

Through the analysis of discursive and aesthetic components of some of that documentary belong periphery film, this paper discuss to what extent this production contributes to propose other imaginary about the peripheral areas. A fruitful starting point is the discussion of the categories related to poverty, marginality, exclusion and suburbs used to classify the film under review here. This option will lead us to establish a connection with studies of the social sciences have been concerned to grasp the nuances that make up these categories, lending the text an interdisciplinary between cinema and urban sociology.
