Abstract

This essay proposes an analysis about the Darren Aronofsky’s movie "Requiem for a Dream" (2000), which one is based on the consideration of addictions and contemporary forms of biomediatic control of the subjectivity. Therefore the concept of “farmacopornographic regime” will be the basis for the discussion. Farmacopornographic Era had its origins in the rubble of the 2nd World War, developing the logo of the Cold War technology race and getting their profile in the crisis of industrial capitalism of the 1970s. This system oscillates between the poles pharmacological and pornographic, and captures the subjectivities interconnected through biomediatic control. The movie, in turn, is successful in addressing the discussion of contemporary addictions from an unrestricted range of dependency: we are all caught.
