The relevance of ethnography in interdisciplinary research: an approach to the study of the Bolsa Familia in Florianopolis, SC

Abstract

This article was create from a research made in the project: “Táticas Locais e Estratégias Internacionais: a política social do Programa Bolsa Família e as relações de classe, gênero, raça/etnia em Santa Catarina (o caso de Florianópolis)”, it's a part of the investigation proposed by François-Xavier Mérrien, from the University of Lausanne, “Táticas Locais e Estratégias Internacionais: a política social do Programa Bolsa Família e as relações de gênero, raça/etnia no estado de Santa Catarina, Brasília, Moçambique, Filipinas, Cuba e França”, the research in Florianópolis was produce by a multidisciplinary team that used the ethnographic method and center the analysis around the people who receive resources from Bolsa Família program, the ways that they mean these resources and their inclusion on the program. Men and women that get the resources from the program in four neighborhood localizeted in Florianópolis were interview. Trying to talk about the convenience of the utilization of the ethnographic method for different parts of the human sciences, the text reflect about the question of the interdisciplinary on the research work and the importance of the ethnographic analysis in public politics.
