Sowing ideas: youth and theater in a settlement from Ceará

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze how young of Maceió settlement, linked to the Landless Workers' Movement (MST) and located on the west coast of Ceará, constitute their belonging relations as well as their identities, through the theater group Seeds of Art. Assuming that such cultural activity works as a generator of social, identity and youth policy practice, we try to understand how theater acts as a mediator of the relationship between field and city. Therefore, we use, in addition to literature research, the field research, with development of diary, interviews with local leaders and focus groups with 12 young participants of that theater group.
