Abstract

This paper intends to show a few characteristics of the German sociology of the 1920s, through a comparative perspective that will contrast the success of German sociology and the failure of British sociology. For that, we will use the explanations and explanatory categories exposed in the paper Why do disciplines fail? The strange case of British sociology, by Reba N. Soffer (1982). We will explore the comparison intended by the author between the British sociology between its foundation in 1903 and the 1950s and the German sociology of the 1920s, which has a different character from the generation of the sociology's pioneers, used by Soffer as basis of her comparison.
