The Heuristic Method applied to Design for Sustainability in Urban Agriculture

Resumo

This article presents a study to identify heuristics that allow expanding social cohesion in urban agriculture initiatives. For this, two ex-post-facto case studies were carried out from Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Geneva (Switzerland). Another objective of the research is to reflect on the use of these heuristics in Service Design and Design for Social Innovation. The Heuristic Method is presented with the grounded theory approach and the steps of the method for identifying the heuristics. Finally, the contribution of this research is in the proposal of meta-actions for its conversion into Design actions based on the ten identified heuristics.

Mariana Schmitz Gonçalves, Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR)

É curadora de conteúdo e designer na plataforma Projectool, website que disponibiliza ferramentas de Design Centrado no Humano em português de forma gratuita. É mestre em Design pela Universidade Federal do Paraná e pesquisou no Núcleo de Design & Sustentabilidade da UFPR em Curitiba. Possui graduação em Design com ênfase em Programação Visual pela Universidade da Região de Joinville - UNIVILLE (2015) com intercâmbio de dois semestres no curso de Design de Comunicação na Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto (Portugal). Se interessa principalmente pelos seguintes temas: Design para a Sustentabilidade, Design para Inovação Social, Design Participativo.

Aguinaldo dos Santos, Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR)

Técnico em Mecânica de Automóveis pelo SENAI/PR (1984), graduação em Engenharia Civil pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (1992), mestrado em Engenharia pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1995), doutorado em Gestão da Produção pela Salford University (1999) e Pós-doutorado em Design Sustentável pelo Politecnico di Milano (2009). É bolsista produtividade nível 2 do CNPq onde coordenou o Comitê Assessor de Design de 2005 a 2007. Foi professor visitante da Escuela Militar del Ecuador (Equador) e da Strathclyde University (Escócia) e do Mestrado em Design Estratégico do Politecnico di Milano (Itália). É professor Associado I do Departamento de Design da Universidade Federal do Paraná desde 2002, tendo atuado no Mestrado em Construção Civil (2000 a 2011) e Mestrado em Design (2005 até o presente). Foi coordenador de Transferência de Tecnologia da Agência de Inovação da UFPR de julho de 2009 a julho de 2010 e coordenador do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Design da UFPR entre agosto de 2011 e agosto de 2013. É membro do conselho editorial dos periódicos Product (IGDP), Revista Tecnologia e Sociedade e International Journal of Disaster Resilience in the Built Environment, além de revisor ad hoc dos periódicos Ambiente Construído, Construction Management & Economics, Design em Foco, Estudos em Design, Journal Household and Personal Care Today, Journal of Construction on Developing Countries e Produção. Sua área de atuação inclui a lean production e o design para a sustentabilidade, tendo como objeto de pesquisa principal a habitação de interesse social e sistemas produto+serviço. É coordenador do Núcleo de Design & Sustentabilidade da UFPR desde 2002.
