Resumen

Like what happens in other regions, plant diseases are also responsable for great loss in state’s agriculture. Thus, in function of the intense demand, was created in 2002 the “Plant Pathology Clinic”, located in Plant Pathology Laboratory (CCA/UFSC). Its establishment has narrowed the bonds between farmers, technician and UFSC, helping in diagnosis for plant pathological problems, being this its primordial objective. Along those last eight years of existence, the Clinic recieved a total of 252 samples, proceeding mostly from Santa Catarina, but also from Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul, presenting mainly diseases caused by fungi. Also, the labour performed by the Clinic has contributed to train profissionals in plant pathology area, being a significantly important source of learning for teachers and students because it brings to academic enviroment the real problems faced by farmers in the field.
