A história e a filologia na Ciência Nova de Giambattista Vico

In his youth, Giambattista Vico dedicated himself to Law studies
in a very particular political atmosphere, and developed his academic activity using Rethoric as a philosophical speculation, intending to enlighten Law and History. The fondation of Vico’s philosophy lies on the new imposition given to the problem of knowledge. Furthermore, the author of Scienza Nova perceived the importance of the history involving each human being, stating that through the study of Philology and Etymology it is possible to acquire the knowledge of ancient societies’ spiritual life, tales, poets, and life on the dawn of civilization.
