Milton Santos: a construção da geografia cidadã
Abstract
Milton Santos was the geographer who gives more visibility to the Brazilian geography. His militancy in name of the citizenship and ethic extrapolated the academic frontiers. He wrote a complex and numerous literary work, elaborating a real geographic theory of the space, presenting different faces and phases that still asks for more reflection. This paper intends to show one possibility to classify his work. Therefore, it considers that his thinking and the way his work could be organized followed two basic directions, since the field of philosophical thoughts about the nature of the geographic space, up to the empirical works, in which he was looking for the intelectual re-built of the world through specific experiences, giving emphasis to the place as a category.
