The spacial configuration of Yungue catchment in Juiz de For a, MG - Brazil

Abstract

The intensification of urbanization process in Juiz de For a, MG - Brazil has caused the incorporation of new areas in its urban patch in the last decades. This expansion has occurred in a disordered manner in most confronting the legal mechanisms of territorial arrangement. The Yungue catchment, with approximately 2,000 hectares and placed on the east part of the city, is a good example of this situation. The aim of this work is to analyze, through the evolutional dynamic of land use and occupation forms, the geographical spatial configurations of this catchment.
