Geomorphologic mapping: morphogenetic and morphodynamic analyses in an urban case study

Abstract

This study presents a geomorphological analysis, based on the identification and mapping of standards of similar forms of relief and respective morphogenetic and morphodynamic processes in the Vila Augusta region of the municipality of Viamão in RS, which is commonly affected by flooding. To analyze the geomorphological situation of the area of study, as well as its genesis and dynamic, based on the division and structure of the local landscape (AB´SABER, 1969) Ross’ taxonomic proposal (1920) was used. The alteration of the hydrological system of the watersheds and of the water courses in Vila Augusta are discussed from the perspective of the occupation of the watershed in which Vila is inserted.

Possui graduação em Estudos Sociais - Licenciatura Plena em Geografia pela Universidade de Santa Cruz do Sul (2001), graduação em Geografia - Bacharelado pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2006), mestrado em Geografia - Análise Ambiental - pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2005) e é doutorando em Geografia Física pela Universidade de São Paulo. Atualmente é bolsista do CNPq. Tem experiência na área de Geografia, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Geomorfologia, Geoprocessamento, Sensoriamento Remoto e Cartografia.
