Abstract

The environmental problems in Concordia (SC) country area should be discussed in light of the economic model that has been established during the local settling and developing processes. Such developing model was based upon the scientific paradigm of the technical instrumental rationality, which determines how the productive relations should be. This process has hinder the social actors directly related to production from realizing the damage caused to natural resources. The established conflicting ideas within such model that evolved into environmental problems are deeply affecting the area, and, hence, its population. This situation is forging a new environmental awareness and the suppression of rationality that damages the environment.
