A reestruturação do complexo agroindustrial do arroz de Santa Catarina no período 1990-2000
Abstract
The market overture impact, in the Collor Government,
caused an enlarging of rice imports, and financier crises in
agricultural sector. On one hand there has been, in Santa Catarina and in Rio Grande do Sul a concentration of a large part of the rice production in some enterprising groups and cooperatives, and, on the other hand, a spreading of the production between a great number of small establishments of refinement. Although the planted area has suffered some reduction at Vale do Itajaí (10,7%) and in the North coast (9,0%), it has gone further in the south of Santa Catarina (32%) and the average productivity of the rice in Santa Catarina rose from 2,5 ton/ha in 1980 to 5,6 ton/ha in 1997/98. The major rice agricultural industries of Santa Catarina automate the production and increase
the productive capacity. So, they evolved approximately, from
650,000 ton/year in 1980 to 1,350,000 in 1998.
