Survival strategies at Amazon in Para: the case of residents from the lower course of Meruu river (Igarapé-Miri/Para/Brazil)

Abstract

This paper aims to make an analysis of the way of life of those living in the lower course of Meruu river. Initially were held readings and discussions of handouts so that field research were theoretically grounded. Added to the literature, group discussions and field research were very important to the construction of knowledge about the subject studied, trying to improve our studies about the way of life of people with traditional knowledge in Amazon. Thus, recognition and mapping of uses of natural resources, by these people, had great importance for the understanding of what we are calling survival strategies. In foray into the field, it was set as the first step of analysis, the general aspects of production and marketing of acai, the main product grown and marketed in the study area and identity link that connects the local community to the territory.
