Dialogue about the life and work of Manuel Correia de Andrade: interview with Thais de Lourdes Correia de Andrade

This interview was carried out as part of a research project for scientific initiation (PIBIC/UFPE/CNPq) on the Pernambuco geographer Manuel Correia de Andrade. The teacher interviewed, Thaís Correia de Lourdes Andrade, is, in addition to being the daughter of Manuel Correia de Andrade, a researcher of the life and work of this geographer, having lines of research focused on the following themes: Brazilian Northeast, geographic thinking, environmental issue and regional issue. . This semi-structured interview was held in virtual format on July 15, 2021. There were notes on the academic and personal trajectory of Manuel Correia de Andrade within the historical, political and spatial logic of his time, as well as the intellectual cycles in which it was inserted and its main theoretical influences. It can be noted from what was discussed that Manuel Correia de Andrade developed a critical geographic thought, which, fostered by personal events and theoretical influences, problematized the social, economic and territorial tradition of the Northeast in an avant-garde way, ahead of written debates of his time.
