Abstract

This paper shows a theoretical study on satire and its possible application to the plays of Antônio José da Silva, the Jewish. From readings of the theoretical studies on the issues of satire, we find three accepted definitions of the term. Applied at the plays The Precipice of Phaeton and Amphitrion or Jupiter and Alcmene, we found that the theories of satire analyzed are rejected or do not fit the your plays.
