In this study we carry out a critical reading of the short story “A hora dos justos”, which is part of the book Sósias (2015), by Santiago Villela Marques, focusing on the relationship of intertextuality established with the biblical discourse and irony as a discursive resource that generates meanings in around the notion of justice assumed by the characters. To this end, the concepts of narratology and intertextuality, as well as the dialogical approach to irony. From the results obtained, we verified that the biblical quotations ironically accentuate the characters' contradictory behavior and demonstrate that, historically, the spectacularization of violence and the desire for collective revenge complement each other in the face of specific targets, while hiding the behavior of the judges.
