Abstract

This article aims to set a discussion about the book of Austrian writer Thomas Bernhard, Extinction, with regard to the legacy of the Nazi destruction of thought. The closing speech that Thomas Bernhard could also be read as an extinction of thought on behalf of a silence typical of those who survived and / or worked in concentration camps. Much has been written about Auschwitz, but the need to continue with all kinds of questions ethical, political or legal is an obligation of humanity itself.

 

 

Author Biography

Helano Jader Ribeiro, UFSC

Possui graduação em Letras-Germanística pela Universidade Federal do Ceará (2005). Trabalhou de 2006 a 2008 como professor leitor de Língua Portuguesa e Literatura Brasileira na Universidade de Colônia(Alemanha). Desenvolve trabalhos de Literatura Comparada e tradução dentro da temática da modernidade e Walter Benjamin. É membro do Núcleo de Estudos Benjaminianos - NEBEN, onde participa das reuniões semanais, discutindo textos filosóficos e da teoria literária. Tem experiência na área de Letras, com ênfase em Letras, Língua Alemã e Tradução.
