The article War and trauma in the novel The last song of the night, by Francisco Camacho, has as an objective to analyze the presence of these aspects in the narrative of Portuguese author, reflecting back on the presence of war created traumas in the person, making it your actions are moved and your life affected by the conflicts. More specifically, in the literary fiction, see the character Jack Novak, success guitar player of the band “The Bitters”, involved, because of familial relationships, on the catastrophic events from the civil war in Yugoslavia, in the 1990s, situation that he tries for a moment move away, but cannot, affect he permanently, making he question to own life, marking he in the memory with the terrifying scenes of the war, peculiar characteristic of the trauma. As the theorical basis for the academic work proposal, will be used for philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860) and Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900), that address the theme of a man with pains propagator and the necessity that the same feel in to a conflicted, impose your wills to the other, respectively; for the psychoanalysis by Sigmund Freud (1856-1939), pay attention to compulsive behavior and repetitive of the traumatized people; the idea of trauma as a result of culture, of an era post-catastrophe that will never go, presented by Primo Levi (1919-1987) and Márcio Seligmann-Silva (1964); among others thinkers that corroborate for the development of themes about war and trauma.
