In this article, we propose to read the novel Poncia Vicencio (2003) from the symbology of what we now call the rainbow myth updated. In the work in question, we point out how the bantu, yoruba, nordic, romanian, irish, greco-roman, jewish myths, as well as the rainbow symbology of the whipala andean flags and the LGBTQI + movement, can be seen in the poetic plot of Conceição Evaristo's narrative. Ribeiro (2018), Daibert (2015), Dionísio (2013) and Ford (1999) are some of the authors who support the perspective present in the analyzed text. We justify this study because, aware of African ancestral knowledge and knowledgeable about the cultures of the world that surround it, Conceição Evaristo de Brito is a safe haven in the debate of black feminism. A writer responsible for opening opportunities for black women in literature, Conceição has made her way through the race. Considered internationally and nationally as the holder of a careful and potent writing, and also as a dear and respected Yabá in the black community, Evaristo is recommended reading and obligatory for everyone.References
