A criança no olhar de Machado de Assis
Abstract
Through the analysis of "Conto de Escola" by Machado de Assis, the presentwork focuses on the narrator's look at the young characters and their relation with second-ary schools, in which there was the cane practice, and in which the fear of the school-masterand of the pandy was the predominant issue. Furthermore, there is an attempt to considerthe behavior and feelings of the poor and free children in the figures of Raimundo, Pilar eCurvelo and to underscore Machado de Assis as a portraitist of the II Empire, for he con-textualizes the characters in the political life of the country.Downloads
