A casa (entre) aberta
Abstract
This article intends to understand the possible representations that can be found in the Gilberto Freyre work, "Sobrados e Mucambos", in "Crônica da Casa Assassinada" by Lúcio Cardoso, since both works approach the same bias: the decadence of patriarchal system and the consecutive ascension of the urban system, in the beginning of the XIX century. The Gilberto Freyre’s narrative is an excerpt of the Brazilian society of that period, based on particular recollections of himself; in Lúcio Cardoso the fictional narrative involves the environment of a typical traditional “mineira” family, which resists to the external influences, materialized, especially, by Nina’s character; and to the inevitable loss of the patriarchal supremacy.Downloads
