The contribution of Roberto Schwarz to Almanaque
Abstract
Em 1976, no número inaugural de Almanaque — cadernos de literatura e ensaio,2 Roberto Schwarz publica "Só as asas do favor me protegem", parte de um estudo sobre os primeiros romances de Machado de Assis.3 Partindo da análise de Iaiá Garcia, A mão e a luva e Helena, Schwarz afirma que apesar de se apoiar "em formas literárias acanhadas e regressivas", Machado já se fixava, nesses romances iniciais, "em matérias que mais adiante o levariam a escrever grande literatura."
