Abstract

The article aims to present an analysis of the cinematographic dynamics of Manuel Gusmão’s writing — a Portuguese poet and literary essayist — and of his work with sonority, with movements, and with the game of light and shadow in co-moving the verb-visual materiality of the poems. In this sense, some reflections are developed on a theorization of the image and an ethics of looking arising from the imagistic procedures established in the critical lyricism of the mentioned poet, in the scope of the Portuguese contemporary poetry.
