Abstract

The cultural newspaper Nicolau circulated in Brazil between 1987 and 1996 as a project of the government of the state of Paraná. We are concerned here with the genre news report in the initial phase of this medium. In this study, we analyzed texts signed by the journalist Adélia Maria Lopes. Among other things, the text sought to show the capital the culture that was produced in suburbs and also in other cities in the state. Our goal is to prove that these productions have the essence of literary journalism, that is, the harmonious union between communicative strength and aesthetic quality in nonfiction stories, which promotes a more efficient cultural reading. For the analysis, we used authors like Edvaldo Pereira Lima, Sergio Vilas Boas, Rogério Borges, Marcelo Bulhões and Cremilda Medina.
