Relations between the theme of community and games

Abstract

This research has the objective of relating the texts of various philosophers on the theme of Community with definitions and concepts from the area of game theory. Three main discussion topics are presented, which interweave in diverse ways. The first topic discusses the task of rethinking community through studies by Georges Bataille, Jean-Luc Nancy and Maurice Blanchot, relating them to the ludic activity. Following this, the aesthetic and politic aspects of games are analyzed, based on Jacques Rancière’s thoughts. Finally, a brief study of the videogame The Stanley Parable is presented, with the purpose of relating the game to the theme of disobedience within the community, through the understandings of Frédéric Gros on this subject. The study concludes that the ludic sphere presents itself as a proper medium to discuss community, interweaving itself with group and society dynamics at all times.

Possui graduação em Letras - Inglês pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (2017). Tem experiência na área de Letras, com ênfase em Literaturas Estrangeiras Modernas. Doutoranda em Teoria Literária no Programa de Pós-graduação em Literatura.
