What sustains the ideia of community? Is it a substantial property of its members? Or is it an emptiness, an absence, a lack? How to say "we" without appealing to essentialist discourses that make the community a closed and unitary body constituted in opposition to an "other"? Based on these questions, the essay proposes to investigate the problem of community, in relation to the notions of subjectivity, identity, body and experience. At first, the essay exposes some Giorgio Agamben´s considerations about the role of Apparatus in the subjectivation processes, and problematizes certain dichotomous enunciations underlying his thought. In a second moment, the investigation uses the thoughts of two authors who, from different perspectives, question all ontological substrate both of "being" and of collective subjects: Jean Luc Nancy and Judith Butler. Finally, the essay takes up the concept of "community" developed by Roberto Esposito and relates it to Bataille's inner experience.
