Abstract
The Fritz Plaumann Entomological Museum (FPEM), localized in Seara country, west of Santa Catarina state, currently protects the private collection of insects mounted by collector Fritz Plaumann (1902-1994). A survey of the collection existing in the museum, with the objective of forming a data bank, made it possible to give detailed information on it. The museum contains one collection with more than 73,036 specimens and 9,601 species, which represent 19 insect orders, 318 families and 2,219 genera. The collection organized by F. Plaumann represents an extensive inventory of the local fauna of insects (nearly 80% of the colletion's species are from Nova Teutônia) of the area of semi-decidual stational forest of west Santa Catarina, although it includes collections in areas of the Atlantic forest (Santa Catarina and Paraná states) and in the Amazonian rain forest (Mato Grosso state).Downloads
