Abstract
PROSTCOM is a low-cost and easy-to-manupulate computer program for analysis in different domains of behavioral pharmacology, psychophysiology, and ethological studies. The program records and calculates the observed frequencies, latencies, duration and different sequences of selected behaviors. The data are stored in ASCII code which allows the transfer of the archives to other statistical software packages for further analysis. A sample, using the elevated plus maze, an experimental model for the testing of anxiety, is presented. The results indicate that PROSTCOM is a useful tool for research in behavioral neuroscience.Downloads
