Vincent Van Gogh e a utilização das artes nas práticas de reabilitação em saúde mental / Vincent Van Gogh and the utilization of art on pratices of rehabilitation in mental health

Resumo

Esse artigo reflete a interlocução entre Arte, Saúde e Cidadania, tendo como eixo a vida do pintor holandês Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890). O fato de Vincent ter desenvolvido um distúrbio psíquico e este ter influenciado sua vida e obra, desperta interesse de estudiosos de vários campos do conhecimento. No decorrer do século XX, a arte produzida por indivíduos em estado de sofrimento psíquico passou a ser reconhecida no campo das artes como um movimento artístico e incentivada nos processos de reabilitação em saúde mental. Os estudos sobre vida, obra e doença de van Gogh influenciaram diretamente nas pesquisas sobre genialidade e loucura, assim como o papel das atividades artísticas nos processos de reabilitação. Atualmente, as políticas públicas em saúde mental no Brasil preveem a realização de atividades artísticas em instituições de saúde e nas comunidades como uma nova ferramenta no cuidado com o sujeito em sofrimento psíquico.

ABSTRACT: This article reflects an interlocution among Art, Health and Citizenry having as an axis the life of the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh. The fact that Vincent had developed a psychiatric condition, which was an influence on his life and work, has been actively asserted in many fields of research. Since the beginning of the XXth century, the art made by people in mental suffering, has come to be recognized in the field of Arts as an artistic movement and supported in health institutions. Studies about the life, work and illness of Vincent van Gogh have directly affected studies about madness and “geniality”, as well as the place of artistic activities in rehabilitation processes in the field of mental health. Today, mental heath public policy in Brazil recognizes the utilization of artistic activities in health institutions as a valuable resource to provide care for suffering persons.
