The industrial growth potential of sectors of local productive specialization of Santa Catarina state

This paper aims to examine the growth potential of industrial production specialization sectors in the context of productive agglomerations in Santa Catarina. It is an empirical study that aims to analyze industrial production indicators. From the perspective of demand, the estimates of the parameters of the statistical analysis of the aggregation of value by the sector groups that house the productive clusters of SC reveal that the sectors that manufacture investment goods indicate a very promising industrial growth potential for the state. Local development policies should focus, on the one hand, on the promotion of productive links and technological transfers between similar clusters and on the need to transform the current standard of specialization centered on natural resources and labor, advancing to knowledge-intensive sectors with greater added value. On the other hand, cluster measures in the state of SC should promote the consumer goods and investment goods sectors.
