Mundialization of capital and sexual division of labor: walmarting operators of checkout

Abstract

From a dialectical-materialist analysis, this essay reflects about the entry of women in the world of work through the activity of checkout operating in a U.S. supermarket installed in Brazil. Argued that time, the characterization of this function at work, notably inserted in a global process of impoverishment and degradation of the work, in which the female workforce has important peculiarities. Used to the intent, the analysis of semi-structured interviews with unionists involved in the representation of this sector of workers, as well as systematic observations of the stores and supercenters.
