Abstract

This paper analyzes the importance of Romanticism in the work of the English historian Edward Palmer Thompson. For that, it seeks to define the romantic view from the perspective of the Marxist critical analysis. In the sequence, it addresses the centrality of the English romantic tradition to the intellectual project of the so-called group of British Marxist historians. Finally, based on the “Postscript" reading to the second edition of William Morris, it makes an interpretation of the general meaning of romanticism as a constituent element of Thompson's thought and political perspective
