Abstract

In this article the teaching and learning of Sociology in high school is seen by the perspective of its linguistic dimension. The characteristics of sociological language are considered, as well as its relation with the development of sociological perspective. The contributions of Wittgenstein and Vygotsky on the relation between thought, language and knowledge are discussed, despite their different conceptions of language. It is possible to approach the implications of their perspectives to understand the process of sociological language appropriation by the students.
