Abstract

This article’s aim is to systematize the positions of the left-wing parties in relation to the Lula administration (2003-2006). After twenty-two years in opposition to the federal administration (1980-2002), the Worker’s Party (PT) came to the presidency surrounded by a broad array of political forces from various ideological positions. During this period, the left-wing parties divided themselves into two blocks in their relationship with Lula’s administration: 1) a first group supported the government despite having conflicts with it; 2) while the second left-wing group took an oppositional stance, accusing the government of betrayal. From the speeches externalized by the left of the political field members, seek to identify why a part of the left have supported the government and part not, and the reasons for breaks.
