Abstract

This article uses the concept of rationalization of Max Weber (1864-1920) to analyze the production of news on the Internet. The text says that the ideal of informing is overcome by content production on an industrial scale, turning the news into a commodity. The manuscript, based on literature and observation, adopts an interdisciplinary technique to associate themes of Journalism and Sociology. The article concludes that, in addition to impoverish the classic function of the news, the rationalization impact on journalist routines in his relationship with the sources and content it produces.
