Darcy Ribeiro and postcolonial studies: approximations and divergences

Abstract

In an article called: "A crítica pós-colonial a partir de Darcy Ribeiro: uma releitura de o povo brasileiro", Adelia Miglievich establishes relations between Darcy Ribeiro's thinking and postcolonial theory. In this article, I will question these links to think about how close they are and where they become distant. For this, I will give an exposition of the main ideas of the author and of this thought´s current. The main conclusion of this work is that the anthropologist's thinking is closer to a kind of anti-colonial theory than to the post-colonialism.
