Abstract

The aim of this article is to reconstruct the thinking of four brazilian authors -Celso Furtado, Florestan Fernandes, Fernando Henrique Cardoso and Ruy Mauro Marini- around the national bourgeoisie. In the first section, I analyze the academic production of each of the authors, and then I perform a comparative analysis in order to expose the implications of their theoretical proposals regarding the national bourgeoisie. Finally, I refer to the contemporary recovery of these lines of research, in order to map out ways of approaching the national bourgeoisie today.
