Stratification and social class from a weberian perspective - a brief essay

This article conducts a broad discussion of weberian sociology with regard to stratification and social classes. First, some limitations of the “Clarke hypothesis” are discussed, by demonstrating that a Weber's theory is much richer and more complex than the narrow limits of economic marginalism allow. Second, the article demonstrates points of convergence and divergence between Weber's theory of classes and that of Marx, corroborating to highlight the richness of Weber's thought. Ultimately, it delves into the elements of class and social stratification of Weber's thought. Final considerations reiterate the author's contribution to sociology and social sciences, by reiterating the quality of the author's theory of classes.
