Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present the tensions and similarities between two models of critical theory of society that mobilize in the contemporary debate moral and ethical conceptions of progress as normative foundations of the relationship between normativity, history and politics. To this end, I will reconstruct Rainer Forst's theoretical models and his moral grammar of transnational justice from the basic right to justification and Enrique Dussel's formulation of an ethical grammar of decolonization based on the principle of liberation. From these theoretical frameworks, I will try to explain the meanings of a critique of the ideology of political progress, a normative meaning and its reverberations in a conception of democratic politics in the face of the challenges and social regressions of our time.
