Abstract

In this conference, given by Mario Rainer Lepsius in Heidelberg, in 2003, the general outlines of a Weberian paradigm are presented. Returning to Weber's sociology, he highlights its three-dimensional character (action, structure and culture) and its historical-procedural dimension, centered on understanding the rationalization process. Based on these elements, he highlights the contribution legacy by Weberian sociology for the understanding of German political history and explores its potential for understanding transnational processes such as the construction of the European Union as a sociological phenomenon.
